A roasty taste in town

We can’t always drink wine! Sometimes it’s morning! And, if you’re setting off on a day of wine tasting, or if you’d like some local Winters items as souvenirs, there’s a new stop just off Highway 128 in Winters.

Steady Eddy’s—the Winters coffeehouse everyone just loves—now has its own custom roasting room, just down the road at 106-C Main Street. The new business welcomed customers for a first look at the town’s biggest annual celebration, Youth Day, held on Saturday, April 27. Co-owner Carla Wroten was greeting customers with a big smile while her husband, Mel, was busy roasting coffee on the new roaster.

Carla says the new business will be the same Steady Eddy’s that loyal customers know and love, but now they will have expanded roasting capabilities, including special blends and wholesale purchases.

The retail side includes “Taste of Winters” gifts, from 95694 pillows to local honey and olive oil, pottery, and handmade craft items.

“We are proudly carrying items we connect with,” says Carla. “We want our guests to come in and enjoy a local shopping experience, where they can see, smell, and eventually taste our coffee.”

She explains that the permits for in-house coffee tasting are coming, but for now, customers can always purchase coffee and taste it at home.

The roasting room is open Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
